The upcoming Camaro5Fest 2 appears to be growing by leaps and bounds, almost taking on a life of its own. Now grown to occupy two days, the pony car festival is scheduled to include a car show, drag racing, autocrossing and a vendor’s alley. All action takes place at Phoenix’s Firebird Raceway. At the moment, almost 300 Camaro owners have signed up for driving events.

One of the more recent announcements is that the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving at Firebird Raceway will be hosting “Hot Laps” during the Camaro 5 Fest 2 on Saturday the 16th between 1-4:00 pm.

“Hot Laps” involve professional Bondurant instructors driving participants at race speeds, around the Bondurant School Road Course. If you’ve never been in around a race course in anger, this is your opportunity to experience warp speed first hand. A couple of lucky attendees will also get $500 discount certificates for a future Bondurant course.

Beyond the primary attractions, there will be a of number low profile support activities to keep everyone busy, as well as some surprises. One of those is Chevrolet’s announcement that they will unveil a new Camaro model at the show. There is no hint of what it might be at this point, but the action is consistent with the GM division’s statement that they introduce a new Camaro model every ninety days, for the foreseeable future.

There are a number of possibilities being speculated about including a 45th Anniversary Edition, the previously mentioned high MPG model, the yet-unrealized Z/28 model and perhaps a few more.
