Like some of you guys, we tend to take a look around the World-Wide Web, just so we can keep up with what’s going on in the world of Corvette. During a recent perusal fest–while glancing at the Corvette Forums, we came across this oddity that captured our attention. All we can say is “choose your words carefully”. At first glance, we wondered how fast the C5 was going when it backed into the C7.
He must have been moving in order to completely eliminate all butt (pun intended) the rear fascia of the C7. Anyway, we’re not going to sit here and say that the owner needs a pat-on-the-back—or slap on the back of the head. What we will say is that it doesn’t look like it took a boat-load of work to accomplish this melding of modern materials.
From what we can make out in the pictures, the fitment of the not-so-original parts to the C5 doesn’t look to be a hack-job. Someone may have actually put some thought into this. The rear fascia appears to fit well enough that it could pass as a factory installed piece, and the oh-so-fake, glued-on rear pillars—while not a perfect idea, they do give the car a presence that does actually resemble the latest generation of Corvette lineage.
Corvette Forum member Bandit 00C5 posted the images to the forum, and to say that they have started a “discussion” is an understatement. In a forum poll on the Corvette Forums web site at the time of this writing, 405 people had cast their vote about the visual outcome of the project, and 49-percent of those that voted seem to like the outcome, while 32-percent think the car needs to burn. The other 19-percent think it looks cool enough that they want to know where to get it done to their Corvette.
Although we aren’t planning any scientific poll of our own, we would like to hear what you guys tink about the car, good or bad.
