The new C7 Z06 is quite the animal when it comes to high-powered Corvettes, but if that power isn’t used wisely, a horrible situation could appear out of thin air.
That is exactly what happened to a driver and passenger this past weekend in Jefferson County, Arkansas. According to KATV, authorities say that the driver of the supercharged LT4-powered Corvette was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control on Highway 365 around 12:20 PM on January 31st. The driver was ejected from the vehicle after the car hit some trees and was pronounced dead as soon as the authorities arrived on scene.
The passenger was injured and taken to the hospital for further evaluation. No further information has been released on the passenger yet. There’s no word whether alcohol was involved with this fatal crash or not, but let this serve as a reminder about driving faster than is prudent for conditions in any given area. It is important, as a driver, to be aware of the power that can be released with your right foot, and also to be aware of the other drivers on the road.
The event was unfortunate, and it just goes to show that nobody is invincible. We know that these kinds of crashes are going to be popping up more and more due to the variety of high-performance sports cars that are currently on the market and the ones that will be on the market soon – just try to keep it safe, people. Driving at high rates of speed on public roads isn’t worth a life.
