Cadillac Racing had a banner year last season in the 2012 Pirelli World Challenge Series. Veteran drivers Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim piloted the Pratt and Miller built CTS-V Coupes to a total of four victories on their way to securing the overall Team Championship in the GT class. They even simultaneously took the top two spots in the GT drivers’ points championship for themselves.

But that was last year, and the start of the 2013 World Challenge Series is just days away. Both O’Connell and Pilgrim admit that it was a long off season as each pursued other endeavors; O’Connell spent much of his off season serving as a VP for the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving, while Pilgrim was busy shooting his own “Driving Zone” DVDs. All in all, the Cadillac Racing team was only able to get in two days of testing during the off season.

Veteran drivers Johnny O'Connell and Andy Pilgrim say that Cadillac Racing is poised for a repeat in 2013.
Regardless, both Pilgrim and O’Connell are looking forward to driving at new venues for the 2013 season, as well as the possibility of facing even stiffer competition. “I think race by race and corner by corner we’ll see how it shakes out,” says Pilgrim in a GM press release. “As long as we are competitive, I know we’ll be up front and be in with a chance and that’s all we can ask for. The goal will be to repeat 2012 and that feels pretty good being able to say that. Having done it once, we feel we can do it again.”

The 2013 Pirelli World Challenge Series kicks off in St. Petersburg, Florida this Saturday, March 23rd with the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Keep it tuned here for updates as Cadillac Racing chases their second consecutive championship.
