There are two names that instantly come to the forefront of the conversation when you mention Corvette— Callaway, and Corvettes at Carlisle. Thankfully, both can be a reality this weekend.
Every August, enthusiasts from around the globe flock to Carlisle, Pennsylvania to experience the phenomenon known as Corvettes at Carlisle. This year, the team at Callaway Cars Inc. has informed us they have selected Corvettes at Carlisle for the introduction of its Callaway Corvette C8 “Launch Edition”.
Keeping with the company’s mantra of “Powerfully-engineered” the Callaway Corvette C8 Launch Edition brings classy upgrades to the amazing C8 Corvette using advanced elements such as super-light carbon fiber and alloy forgings. The standard Callaway Corvette C8 Launch Edition can be further enhanced through the optional Callaway Aero Groups, Level One or Two.
Callaway has been perfecting the use of carbon fiber for decades and its Launch Edition C8 uses the space-age element to great effect. Refining the edge between the car’s body and the road’s surface in carbon fiber, Callaway engineers have devised a way to efficiently manipulate the airflow around the vehicle.
A front splitter slices through the airflow, deciding which molecules will be put to work cooling the vehicle’s various systems and which ones will be scuttled under, keeping their connection to the road’s surface. Side skirts and a rear diffuser out back make sure the air at speed is as clean as possible while the Callaway Corvette C8 Launch dances with it. Beyond the boundary layer of the road, there is also a carbon fiber rear diffuser directing air as it exits the rear surface of the car. Designed with years of study from its Corvette C7 GT3-R racing, the light-in-weight, but high-impact wing walks that fine line between contributing to downforce without limiting speed.
Adding speed through superior performance, Callaway also enhances the output of the Callaway C8 Launch Edition by increasing airflow to the engine via its Callaway Honker C8 air inlet system and a Callaway-ported intake manifold. Exiting is simplified through the Callaway Double-D exhaust system.
Rounding out the performance potential of the Callaway C8 Launch Corvette are various options for Callaway forged C8 wheels. A variety of finishes are offered: satin black painted, gloss titanium painted, matte bronze painted, as well as two premium finishes: Black Chrome PVD and Ceramic Polished: a machine-automated polishing that is protected by a clear-coating which does not detract from the brilliance of the polished alloy. All finishes carry a 3-year warranty. Just inboard from those spoked jewels, customers can opt for the Callaway Handling Group Level One to refine their C8’s tracking response.
With Callaway’s long relationship with GM, Callaway customers also get peace of mind. Callaway offers the most comprehensive aftermarket warranty in the industry by overlapping the factory GM warranty. Callaway covers all Callaway Corvette C8 Launch Edition components as well as GM components that are affected by Callaway components. GM dealers do not block factory warranty on Callaway Corvettes; they perform maintenance and warranty repairs with support from Callaway Cars.
