If your anticipation for the new ZL1 is growing with every passing day, maybe this can help tide you over for a while. Thanks to the good folks at Camaro5, we have the official Dealer Reference Guide for all of the specs and available options on the forthcoming Camaro ZL1.
The ZL1 Dealer Reference Guide PDF lays out in detail all that makes the ZL1 the ZL1 instead of a regular SS; everything from the aluminum hood with the carbon fiber “Mohawk” heat extractors, down to the bore and stroke of the supercharged LSA engine. The Reference Guide even includes details on the recommended minimum break-in period of 1,500 miles, and strongly discourages towing or pulling a trailer with your ZL1. (Awww shucks! Looks like you can’t tow your buddy’s Mustang home from the track after he breaks it…)
Also included in the Reference Guide is a full “ZL1 vs. Shelby Cobra GT500” performance guide (page 11) that compares every major area of the two cars side by side, no doubt meant to help GM dealers sway buyers who are on the fence between the two cars. Under the “track capability” section the guide points out that the ZL1 comes standard with many track ready systems that would cost extra to have installed on the GT500. Also, all of the ZL1’s key specifications, right down to the track width and curb weight (4,120 pounds), are listed in the Reference Guide.
So, now you can happily spend the next few months memorizing all of the ZL1’s key stats, rather than counting down each agonizing day until the ZL1’s release.
