Hints of Chevrolet building a C8 ZR1 Corvette have been circulating since the C8 went into production in 2020. The badge representing the pinnacle of Corvette performance has been much anticipated by enthusiasts with a great amount of speculation as to the specifics of what exactly a ZR1 C8 would be. Thankfully the wait appears to be drawing to a close as Chevrolet has released a second teaser video for the ultimate production Corvette.

An unofficial rendering of the C8 ZR1 courtesy of Vengeance Graphix give us a glimpse at what the track-oriented sports car could look like.

Last month Chevrolet released a video with the ZR1 badge announcing “The unthinkable is coming this summer.” Although this announcement confirms the ZR1 is returning to the Corvette lineup, there have been no details released directly for Chevrolet. The majority of rumors point to power coming from a twin-turbocharged version of the C8 Z06’s 5.5-liter flat-plane crankshaft V8. Horsepower output is likely to be 800-plus, making the C8 ZR1 the most powerful Corvette ever produced. To push the performance envelope further, the ZR1 could potentially make use of the E-Ray’s hybrid electric all-wheel-drive system for an additional 160 horsepower. This combination would leave room for the rumored Zora model to close out the C8 platform with 1,000-plus horsepower.

The ZR1 will likely feature more aggressive aero than the Z06 along with unique exterior styling to set it apart from the other C8 models. Think Z06/Z07 on steroids. Additionally, a bigger better braking package can likely be expected on the ZR1 to help control the twin-turbo power. Chevrolet hasn’t released any pricing information but the expectation is the ZR1 will be offered around the $150,000 mark, making it a performance bargain among supercars.

The exhaust sounds from this video hint at the turbocharged engine combination, but for now, we’ll just have to wait with anticipation for Chevrolet to release another video and more details on the C8 ZR1.
