We all know the custom, and what a grand tradition it is! For four of the Corvette’s eight generations, Chevrolet has introduced a hot Grand Sport model well into the car’s production run. Today, the bowtie brigade officially pulled the wraps off the latest and greatest: the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport. And this time they’re giving diehards two distinct options: Grand Sport and Grand Sport X!

Grand Sport, Hold The X
The eighth-generation Corvette Grand Sport is a lot of what we’ve heard and expected, and that’s many great things! First and foremost, the car debuts GM’s highly anticipated Gen 6 small-block V8. Displacing a massive 6.7 liters, or 409 cubic inches for those of us who are traditionalists, the car will produce an easy 535 horsepower and 520 lb./ft. of torque. For the record, that’s more torque than any other naturally aspirated V8 on record. That solid power comes courtesy of 13.0:1 compression, a 95 mm throttlebody, a new tunnel ram intake, and forged rods and pistons.
Featuring GM’s fantastic magnetic Ride Control, the Grand Sport can be optioned with a Z52 Sport Performance Package that adds high-performance iron brakes from the Z06. There’s also a Z52 Track performance Package that adds track tuning, carbon ceramic brakes, and coveted Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires. When combined with the car’s carbon fiber aero and dual-clutch eight-speed transmission, the package creates what GM calls the most track-capable Grand Sport to date.
Grand Sport has always been the Corvette for drivers who want the spirit of a race car in a package they can enjoy every day. With the new Grand Sport and Grand Sport X, we’ve taken that formula into the mid-engine era, pairing a heritage-rich design with the most advanced Corvette technologies we’ve ever offered.– Scott Bell, Vice President of Global Chevrolet.

The Electrifying Grand Sport X
The second Grand Sport model is familiar yet new. Making an impressive 721 horsepower, the Grand Sport X springs from the same awesome mindset as the E-Ray and ZR1X: 1) Take a big V8. 2) Throw in an electric front axle. 3) Create an all-wheel drive beast! The difference here is that, like the traditional Grand Sport, the Grand Sport X boasts GM’s latest and greatest Gen 6 small-block. The car grants instant access to 145 lb./ft. of torque from the electric front axle. That power, integrated into an Intelligent Controls System, is available to the car’s driver through three distinct settings: Endurance, for extended lapping, Qualifying, for the ultimate lap time, and Push-to-pass, for max power on demand.
The Grand Sport X comes standard with carbon ceramic brakes and Magnetic Ride Control. An available Performance Package upgrades the car from Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires to Micheline Pilot Sport 4s. Finally, there are also two electric-only modes. Shuttle will get the car up to 23 MPH, and Stealth gets the car up to 50 MPH.

The Grand Sports introduce the first application of Chevrolet’s infamous quad-center exhaust for the C8 platform. In keeping with tradition, the cars feature wider bodies than the standard Stingray. And the killer red, white, and blue motif made most famous by C4 cars makes a triumphant return.

A History Of Excellence
Developed as lightweight race cars by Corvette Godfather Zora Arkus-Duntov, the original 1963 Corvette Grand Sports were proven winners on the track. The second manifestation of the model, created to bookend the fourth-generation Corvette, combined GM’s latest small-block with chassis upgrades from the C4 ZR1. That car truly set the tone for the Grand Sports Corvette purists have enjoyed for close to twenty years. The C6 and C7 Grand Sports continued to refine the formula of offering the approachability of the Corvette brand with serious performance hardware from elite Corvette models such as Z06 and ZR1.
That’s really the central theme in the Grand Sport’s story. This isn’t just another Corvette. It’s a continuation of a legacy that ties Chevrolet purists to some of the most important moments in Corvette history. The eight-generation Corvette’s mid-engine platform continues to change the game for performance. The new Grand Sport and Grand Sport X seek to build on that foundation by delivering cars for drivers who care about how a Corvette feels just as much as how fast it goes.
