Corvette Racing posted on their Twitter account the team will not be participating in this year’s 24-Hours of Le Mans race. Originally scheduled for June, the race was postponed until September. Like many other entities, Corvette Racing is trying to squeeze in as much as possible in an abbreviated schedule with events beginning to ride on top of each other.
Corvette Racing posted on their Twitter account, “Corvette Racing has a long history of competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so our decision to not participate in this historic race this year was not an easy one. Several factors played into our decision, including current conditions and the rescheduled timing.”

Their decision becomes clear when you consider what that schedule was to look like. The team would compete stateside at Laguna Seca with an off week, then vie for the podium at Le Mans, and then fly everything back home to compete the very next weekend at Mid-Ohio. A marathon task at the least, but when you include the uncertainties of today and the possible quarantine scenario, it’s easy to see how two races in-hand are better than one overseas.
This will be the first time that Corvette has not competed in the world-renowned circuit de la Sarthe, and expressed their sorrow at the turn of events. “We’re proud Corvette Racing has been invited to the 24 Hours of Le Mans over the past 20 years and regret that we won’t be participating this year,” they said. “We hope we have the opportunity to race at Le Mans again.”
Their wish to return was echoed by fellow racers on the competing Aston Martin Team, “We’ll miss you guys and we’ll be ready and waiting for when you come back! Don’t leave it too long, there’s no-one we love racing against more.”
And, there’s no one we love watching racing more than our beloved Corvettes. We’ll be watching them when the racetracks once again feel the heat of tires in battle and we’ll be cheering them on all through this year and next. Until then, we bid the circuit de la Sarthe, “Jusqu’à la prochaine fois” (until next time).
