Could This LS6 Swapped 350Z Make A Cool Racecar?

If you’re like us, then you’re probably always keeping an eye out for your another project car to build, and we can’t blame you. We’re always on the hunt for a project car in hopes to score a deal, and this LS6 swapped ’04 Nissan 350Z might just be a steal for its asking price.

350Z_3GRAccording to the classifieds ad on LS1Tech.com, the car is currently located in Fort Collins, Colorado and comes with a clean Colorado title. This particular 350Z boasts some rather low mileage with only 72,000 original miles, too; which is not bad at all for a 12 year old car. When the current owner purchased the car, he drove it from Missouri back to Colorado. If a 800-plus mile drive across two states isn’t enough to prove this Corvette powered Japanese coupe is reliable, you’ll be happy to know that the current owner recently spent over $5,600 in upgrades and maintenance on the car at SCR Performance out of Loveland, Colorado. This 350Z also features a ton of components from Sikky Motorsports out of Baltimore, Maryland.

The 350Z plays host to parts from the company such as motor mounts, fuel line kit, custom driveshaft, slave cylinder, aluminum oil pan, transmission mount, oil filter relocation kit, and T56 shifter adapter.

The car also features an upgraded suspension at all four corners using Stance Suspension coil-overs and a Tanabe USA front strut stabilizer bar, while a Sparco harness bar safely secures the additional four-point racing harness to the OEM front bucket seats.

This '04 350Z plays host to a salvaged 5.7-liter LS6 engine from a '03 Z06 Corvette and uses a matching Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission.

The current owner recently upgraded the LS6 swapped 350Z with a nice treatment of F.A.S.T. components. The engine uses the company’s 92mm LSx intake manifold and throttle-body combination, a popular upgrade within the LS community.

The valve-train has also been treated with a host of upgraded components as well, such as a set of valve springs, locators, retainers, and locks from COMP Cams. The combination works very well with the incorporated Texas Speed Torquer V3 upgraded camshaft.

350Z_5GRFollowing the trend of reliability, this 350Z employs the use of a Walbro 255lph fuel pump along with a set of F.A.S.T. fuel rails and a pair of dual electric fans for the radiator. Finishing off performance modifications, the 350Z swiftly hides it’s Billy Boat exhaust fabricated from a Z06 Corvette kit in a stealthy fashion, leaving the car looking about as unsuspecting as every other one on the road. When it comes to cars like this LS6 swapped 350Z, the question always begs – why is the owner selling it? According to the ad, the current owner doesn’t use the car very often, as they’ve just recently purchased a diesel truck to drive.

The current owner also says that the 350Z currently has a check engine light illuminated, and that the car doesn’t have a traction control system. The good news is with all the recent upgrades and maintenance, anyone with a code reader can find out in a matter of minutes if the code is something simple to fix.

But for an asking price of $16,000 for this LS6 swapped ’04 350Z with only 72,000 miles on it, we think this could make one heck of a track car. It looks as if this 350Z could be a perfect platform to continue building on, whether you’re looking to daily drive or track the car.
