There’s nothing more head turning than…a station wagon? While that statement would be a bit strange if we were talking about the traditional family-mobile, it more than holds true with the 2012 CTS-V Wagon. Sure, at first glance it’s it might have that soccer mom vibe, but there’s just nothing “grocery getter” about 556hp and 551 ft-lbs of torque. That’s what makes it the perfect car to flog on the rain soaked road course at Monticello Motor Club in Monticello, NY, and that’s exactly what Mike Musto did in the latest episode of “Big Muscle.” Check it out above.
While a station wagon is not the traditional vehicle you see hooning around a road course, there are few vehicles with over 500hp that could handle the slick pavement of a rain-soaked venue like the CTS-V Wagon. With Dual-Mode Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, the Wagon carves through the course with confidence.
No, the CTS-V Wagon may not be the first car to come to mind when you think of a modern muscle car, but with all the technology found in the CTS-V and just a little extra space, it’s the perfect car for that family who’s got a speed freak as a member. Like Musto says, this car could take the kids to soccer practice in the morning and go dominate the drag strip at night. What more could you want?
Although this episode of “Big Muscle” is a bit more toned down than some we’ve seen, we kind of like watching the CTS-V Wagon strutting its stuff on the course in the rain. Just goes to show that not all family cars have to be boring. Would you sport a CTS-V Wagon or is 556hp not enough to overlook the wagon aspect?
