One of the best things about a new model of a popular car coming out is that the previous version suddenly isn’t in quite so much demand any more. That can put some amazing cars that were out of reach when they were brand new within the grasp of a lot more people.
By the same token, that depreciation hit can also make a budget stretch a lot farther if you’re just looking to get as much performance per dollar as possible. This Fabberge Dominator twin-turbo setup for the C6 Z06 is a perfect example. Sure, a top quality system is never going to be cheap, but when you consider the amount of raw performance you’re getting, it starts to look like a real bargain. Take a super-clean used C6 Z06, add boost, and come out with a Corvette that will run rings around a new Stingray for a fraction of the price.
The heart of the Fabberge system is a pair of low-mount Garrett GT3582R turbochargers with TiaL lightweight stainless steel 1.03 A/R housings, capable of supporting up to 1,300 horsepower. Optional turbo upgrades can bump that number all the way up to 1,700 horsepower, provided, of course, that you’ve built a long block stout enough to endure it, but Fabberge says that regulating the boost to deliver in the neighborhood of 650 to the wheels is the formula for maximum longevity on the stock LS7.
The system is full of top-quality components, including Fabberge’s own 6061 aluminum intercooler, intake, and charge tubing, TIG-welded 304 stainless exhaust components, and a Bell Intercoolers 3.5-inch aluminum bar-and-plate front mount intercooler (with an optional 4-inch core version available as an upgrade.) The package comes complete with FIC injectors, a HPTuners Standard Edition cable for the tune, and even a ZR1 3 bar MAP sensor and spark plugs.
