These days, it seems as if everyone in the car community, more specifically the LS community, is obsessed with stock-bottom-end records; but maybe rightfully so. If you’ve kept up to date on LS news, you’ll know that these resilient pushrod V8 engines have set all kinds of records; a 7-second SBE 5.3-liter LM7 record comes to mind.
Another SBE record was Sloppy Mechanics’ 6.0-liter LQ4 V8 which made nearly 1,000 horsepower at the rear wheels. Case in point would be the fifth-generation Camaro SS we see in the video above, brought to us by TalonTSi97. Running a 9-second quarter-mile is an accomplishment in its own right; but running that same e.t. on a stock-bottom-end with the engine the car came with from the factory is just downright impressive if you ask us.

In the video, the owner details that the car is a self-built, self-tuned full weight street car setup. Apart from it being a stock-bottom-end build, the car features a Vortech YSi-B centrifugal supercharger and is tuned on 93 octane pump gas (with a dose of methanol for good measure) and a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission.
All of this is enough to propel this full weight fifth-gen into the mid 9s at more than 145 mph with ease. To describe this fifth-generation Camaro SS as awe-inspiring would be an understatement if you ask us. Who would have thought that 6.2-liter LS3 V8 was capable of 9s with a stock-bottom-end?
