Flowmaster has been in the muffler business since 1983. During this time, they have built some fantastic products for race cars and performance street cars. And while we will always love the sound of the 40-series Flowmaster mufflers, it’s nice to see that the company is pushing the boundaries and mixing new technology with its products.
The latest offering from Flowmaster is the FlowFX Active Dual-mode muffler featuring W.A.V.E (Wireless Active Valve Exhaust)Technology. This particular system is designed for the 2019-2020 GM Silverado and Sierra 1500 with a 5.3-liter engine. The direct-fit replacement muffler is the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde approach to a modern exhaust system. In the closed position, the FlowFX has a modest performance tone over the trucks factory exhaust. However, at the push of a button on the supplied key fob, the wireless controlled actuator valve on the Power Chamber redirects the spent gasses through the turndown, giving you an open exhaust note.
The FlowFX system is built out of stainless steel and is features mandrel-bent for optimum flow. It features a Power Chamber connected to a round FlowFX performance muffler that attaches to the factory tailpipe effortlessly. Inside the Power Chamber is a wirelessly controlled valve with a large 3.00-inch turndown.
This system includes the Power Chamber connected to a FlowFX muffler, actuator motor, control unit, two wireless key fobs, wiring, hardware, and detailed instructions. While this system will fit a 2019 2 and 4-wheel drive trucks, it doesn’t fit the 2019 Classic body.
