General Motors 6.6-liter L8T engine platform is being used in a wide range of applications and it has some serious high-performance potential. There’s plenty of people already licking their chops in anticipation to start building some killer engines with this mill, and Fluidampr is here to help. The L8T was introduced as the engine of choice for GM 1500 trucks back in 2019 and has been integrated into other models. This engine is the perfect high-performance platform, thanks to its strong design. If you were ever worried that the LS-based engines would run out in junkyards, fear not, as this engine will easily fill the gap.

Fluidampr saw the potential of the L8T engine and wanted to create a balancer that would assist engine builders when they want to make some big horsepower.

“The L8T platform is an engine builder’s dream,” says Fluidampr project lead, Nick Orefice. “It was originally developed for high-torque towing capacity in GM’s Heavy-Duty truck line. However, the robustness of the cast-iron block with nodular iron main caps and a forged steel crankshaft promises lots of potential for engine swaps and crate programs.”

The Fluidampr balancer for the L8T manages crankshaft torsional vibration across the entire operational RPM range of the engine. This will protect the crankshaft from failure and reduce wear on the rotating assembly. Fluidampr’s balancer features a removable air conditioning pulley, and it has a replaceable crankshaft hub. The balancer is SFI 18.1 certified and is made in the USA.
