Are you in the market for a crazy-fast super car? Is money no object in your decision? Then you might want to look into the forthcoming Hennessey Venom GT2. We’re not talking about the 1,200hp GT version Steven Tyler bought, either. We’re referring to the newly updated model packing 1,500 LS based horsepower. That’s basically the power of the older GT Venom and the extra power from a 5th Gen V6 Camaro smooshed together. Crazy.

The GT2, like the GT before it, is largely based on the Lotus Elise platform. Except the difference is the 180hp 1.8L Toyota engine was replaced with something *slightly* more powerful.
Awesome, but it isn’t cheap. It’s not even close to what we would call reasonably priced. There’s no easy way of putting this, so we’re just going to come right out and tell you that the GT2 will come with a $1.25M price tag – That’s an “M” as in million, in case you were wondering.
At that price the GT2 isn’t even the fully optioned version, either. If you want the available 7-speed paddle-shifted gearbox that will run you another $165,000 according to our friends at Autoblog.
Before you get disappointed and ask yourself “How did an overpriced Lotus land on a Power Automedia publication,” we should probably tell you that in that back of this Lotus-based machine is a GM 7-liter LS7… equipped with a pair of very big turbos.
You can also partly thank E85 for the high horsepower numbers too, since the ethanol-based fuel contributes to the unspecified and presumably high boost levels. But it isn’t just about massive power numbers with Hennessey. They incorporated a lot of tech into the body with a CofD of 0.42, a drop from 0.44 of the previous iteration.
For more geeky tech wizardry trivia the horsepower matches the weight of the car 1hp/1kg, making it really impressive for people who pay attention to such things. To us, the car is an incredible piece of automotive engineering that we’d love to own, but sadly never will thanks to the insane price tag. For that sort of cash we would buy a complete collection of every car we’ve ever wanted up to this point in life, and a nice poster of the Venom GT2 to hang in our garage. But that’s just us.
For $1.25M, Hennessey will be happy to paint your Venom GT2 in colors like Orange, Red, and White.
