Any true car guy knows the love and passion that comes with the utter performance and prestige of a sports car. No matter what your make and model, we’ve all been there – drooling over the looks, handling, feel and performance of an impressive piece of machinery. While some of us will go through life merely admiring and loving from afar, others will get the chance to take the ride of their life in that one special car. Recently, RideLust’s Editor-in-Chief Mike “Mr. Angry” Musto got that chance of a lifetime and took the ride that would top his list – the new CTS-V race car.
Being an automotive journalist has perks for some. These commonly involve ride-alongs with renowned drivers in the latest and greatest cars. Unsurprisingly, Mr. Angry was invited to Monticello Motor Club this last week to ride with Andy Pilgrim in the new CTS-V race car. And from his recollection, it was truly a ride to remember.
The CTS-V that Mike got to enjoy weighs in at 3,200 pounds. It pushes 460 horsepower and 447 pound feet of torque from its aluminum block, 6.2L V8 engine that sports aluminum heads and crank. The car is also equipped with a sequential six-speed, no-lift-shift transmission. It floats along on 18-inch BBS wheels. The six-pot Brembo calipers and 355mm rotors match the grunt of the engine with stopping power on the road. The CTS-V is topped off with a carbon fiber, 12-button steering wheel that allows the driver to have the ultimate control of his car.
Musto has had the opportunity to ride in many race cars in his career, so impressing him with the latest car on the track had to have been a challenge, but the CTS-V did just that. In his article about his experience, he related his utmost awe at the impressive machine that is the CTS-V race car. From handling and acceleration, to braking and road grip, Mr. Angry had nothing but good things to say.
Whether you’re like Mike and have a love and want for the CTS-V, more specifically, a 2011 CTS-V Wagon in Supersonic Blue (a color not offered on the wagon currently), or have a different ultimate car, we’re sure you’ll agree that the statistics are impressive. Personally, we can’t wait to see the new CTS-V race car gracing the tracks at future events. Congrats goes out to our friend for getting to ride in one of his dream cars. May we all be so lucky some day!
