Back in 2002, the legendary Michigan Camaro dealership, Berger Chevrolet teamed up with Hot Rod Magazine to produce a 4th gen Camaro limited edition to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Camaro. Only a total of 38 cars (36 plus 2 prototypes) were produced by GMMG as “Hot Rod Edition” Berger Camaros. Each of the Berger/GMMG/Hot Rod Edition Camaros featured a tuned LS1 with 380 HP and 400 ft/lbs (auto trans cars had only 360 HP), a cat-back exhaust, Hurst short throw shifter, chrome 17×9.5 Cragar SS wheels, and a wide variety of Hot Rod emblems.
The Hot Rod Magazine Edition Berger Camaros are among the most rare special edition 4th gen Camaros produced, and now you can have one for your very own thanks to Q Chevrolet, in Irving Texas. They have this mint condition 2002 Hot Rod Edition listed for sale for the meager sum of $75,000. We aren’t sure what these cars sold for new, but it’s probably safe to say that this car has appreciated more than a little over the last decade.
And where did we come across Q Chevrolet’s listing for this unique and rare piece of Camaro history? Hemming’s? The GMMG Registry? Nope. We found the car on Craigslist, sandwiched right between listings for a $2500 beater ’89 RS Camaro, and a rough ’69 that needs complete restoration. Just goes to show, you never know what you might come across on there.
