There has been a lot of hype lately about the 2012 Camaro ZL1 with plenty of information and videos of the car being released recently. While these are all cool, and we’re following the release of information quite closely, one of the coolest things we’ve come across is the ZL1’s appearance on Jay Leno’s Garage. We’re not talking about any ZL1, though; we’re talking about the very Camaro that made the historic 7 minute and 41.27 second lap at Nurburgring. Thanks to Camaro5.com for bringing us the episode.
Sharing the car in the video with Leno is Mark Reuss, President of GM North America. Although Reuss didn’t make the record lap in the ZL1 at Nurburgring, he has taken the car out on many test runs, something you never would have seen a head-hauncho of an automotive company doing back in the day.
Carrying a variant of the 6.1L engine found in the Corvette ZR1 and Cadillac CTS-V, the ZL1 is not only the fastest Camaro ever released by Chevrolet, it is also the fastest production car under $75k. With this comes phenomenal performance features like Magnetic Ride Control, which allows for five different levels of vehicle behavior to be selected, electronic power steering and a host of electronic demon tweaks to allow even average drivers to extract extraordinary performance from this Camaro.
We are thoroughly impressed with the ZL1 and the feature on Jay Leno’s Garage just added to our anticipation for the car’s official release. Check out the video below and tell us what you think of the latest teaser for the Camaro ZL1.
