By now, all of you have probably heard of John Hennessey and his industry-leading engine upgrade “power packages.” It seems he’s been releasing a lot of videos recently, and we dig it– his latest: a test drive in a customer’s Corvette Z06. This isn’t just any regular Z06, though, it’s equipped with Hennessey’s HPE1000 Engine Upgrade.
The HPE1000 package for the 2015-’17 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has an estimated power rating of a whopping 1008 horsepower at 6,500rpm and 823 lb-ft torque at 4,000rpm. It does a 0 to 60 of roughly 2.5 seconds, a quarter mile in 9.7 seconds at 147MPH, and has a top speed of over 220 mph. And yes, it is available for both the automatic and manual transmission equipped vehicles. After installation of the super long list of upgrades, the vehicle is dyno’d, tuned, road tested, and then (like all Hennessey builds) backed by a 1 year/12,000 mile warranty.
John took the customer’s Z06 in the video to the quarter mile strip next to his shop to give us a quick driving impression. He notes the drivability, the carbon ceramic brakes, Michellin Pilot Sport Cup tires, and compares the car’s performance and power to that of a Porsche 918. And, if you don’t know about the 918, well, lets just say the thing is a beast– a beast with a starting price of $847,975. We don’t know the price tag that comes along with all of the Hennessey HPE1000 add-ons, but we’re more than willing to bet that its not $700+K.
Thus, Hennessey has impressed us once again.
