With a car like the Chevy Camaro comes a lot of history. Many owners of the fifth-generation Chevy pony car have owned a Camaro at some time in their life, and most people agree that the Camaro’s styling was a bold but good move for GM. Yet there are still those who wish the Camaro was still a little more retro-looking.

For those people, there is the new Lingenfelter Performance Engineering “Retrokit,” which turns the fifth-gen Camaro into a decidedly more retro vehicle. There are sure to be those purists who prefer the more modern design, but this Retrokit has an appeal all its own as well.

The Lingenfelter Retrokit is available in both RS and non-RS versions, which unlike the GM RS package, includes a more nostalgic nod to the original Camaro RS.. Both kits include a new front fascia, lower spoiler, a chrome bumper, and two lower running lights. The non-RS kit includes two headlight assemblies, while the RS Camaro has headlight assemblies with working doors and motors. Both kits obviously include all the brackets and wiring harness as well.

The Lingenfelter RS package costs $8,150 if you install it yourself, and the non-RS system will cost $6,850, a difference of $1,300. If you’d rather have Lingenfelter install the kits for you, be ready to pony up $9,750 for the RS package, or $8,550 for the non-RS. Not cheap, but if you’re the nostalgic type who wishes your Camaro had a more retro look, Lingenfelter’s Retrokit is your best bet.
