Matt Farah recently took a trip to North Carolina to pay a visit to Detroit Speed and Engineering (DSE), which is a shop known for their superior automotive parts and amazing handling autocross builds. Of course, he had to film a couple of “One Take” reviews as he got to experience some of their best muscle car projects– two of which we thought we’d share with you.
First, a gorgeous 1972 C3 Corvette. But don’t let its looks fool you, this thing is built to destroy a track (and allegedly does so). They widened the body about six inches all the way around with fiberglass flares and have used the vehicle to develop multiple suspension components that have yet to be released. Under the hood, this thing is no less beasty– it’s sporting an LS3 from Mast Motorsports, pushing 590 horsepower. Its loud, its aggressive, and its just plain awesome.
Another car Matt Farah had the pleasure of driving was a 1970 Camaro driven by the co-owner of DSE, Kyle Tucker. Kyle claims “it has a lot of laps [and] a lot of miles in,” but is one of his favorite cars of all time. Its Mast Motorsports Black Label 427ci LSX puts out a whopping 680 horsepower to the crank. It’s somewhat of a “test” vehicle, boasting just about every single part DSE makes for second-gen Camaros, and the outcome is quite nice.
“Our parts are for street cars, but they have superior handling capacities,” said Kyle. Making them safe and perfect for the street, but also perfect for the track.
