Chevy fans were very patient, waiting for GM to come up with an answer to the Shelby GT500. What we got was a two-ton, 580 horsepower Camaro with incredible track aspirations thanks to technology like magnetic ride control and specially-designed supercar tires. But not all of us can afford the $54,350 MSRP to put a real ZL1 in our garage.

But most of us probably can afford to put a Camaro ZL1 RC car into our toy chest. Duratrax has released the first pictures and information on their officially licensed Camaro ZL1 track car. The 1/10th scale Camaro will cost just $319, less than 1% of the price of the real deal. Affordable, and almost as fun.

Packing an 18R gas engine that runs a 20% nitromethane solution, this little RC car packs a powerful punch worthy of the Camaro ZL1 name. A realistic-feeling, two-speed transmission delivers the power smoothly to all four wheels, allowing this Duratrax Camaro ZL1 to drift around corners with ease. Color choices are limited to Victory Red and Inferno Orange.

While RC cars are typically looked at as toys, there is a large following devoted to serious RC car competition, with thousands of dollars thrown at scale model vehicles. Hell, just check out the suspension on this “toy.” Seems crazy to consider, but when you look at the money being burned in the collector car market, spending a few hundred bucks on an RC Camaro ZL1 suddenly doesn’t seem so crazy.
