No Sympathy on Reddit for Crashed Camaro Owner

Camaro rear endIn the LSX scene you will meet some of the coolest and most down to earth people. However, the sad truth is not all people who drive Camaros are cool; couple that with the often-brutal world of social media and you get interesting results. Reddit user twofce411 recently rear ended another car in his 2014 Camaro LS and attempted to claim it wasn’t his fault. He uploaded a picture of his smashed front end and claimed that the damage was caused when the car in front of him slammed on the “breaks,” causing him to rear end the other car.

Now, generally speaking, when you hit another vehicle from behind, the presumption is that you’re at fault, for following too closely, going too fast, or not paying attention. Sure, sometimes you get cut off and can’t avoid the collision, but most of the time the blame lies squarely on the driver in back.

There's some 'salty' language in the comments, which shouldn't surprise you if you've ever been online in the last twenty years...

Looking for Sympathy

The driver posted his tale of woe on r/Camaro hoping for sympathy, but got something else entirely after he was called out by other Redditors. He tried to claim he was doing 35 in a 45, and in his own words “…there were two cars in front of me 1st one same on his brakes 2nd 1 swerved .. I assume the man had turned and was sitting there with no blinker and I slid into him”

Other users pointed out that about 9 months ago he blew his clutch attempting to do burnouts and posted on Reddit trying to claim it wasn’t his fault. Engine damage from a subsequent missed shift led to another unsympathetic reaction from his fellow Redditors. The crash, which will undoubtedly total out this poor Camaro, is just the latest in a string of “misfortunes” that seem to be largely self-inflicted.

The moral of the story? The internet can hold a grudge like a Sicilian elephant, and if you want a shoulder to cry on when you crash your car, maybe anonymous strangers who already know your history (or can easily look it up) aren’t the ones to provide it…
