Play In The Dirt With LS-Powered Off-Roaders From AlumiCraft

When picturing an LS engine, you may see yourself visualizing different generations of Corvettes. You may imagine C10 trucks sitting low, and maybe you imagine a home-built donk flying down the strip, or even LS-swapped Miatas may spring to mind. However, I can almost guarantee one won’t initially ponder the idea of a dune-chasing off-road dedicated super-buggy.

The thought of an LS-powered off-road racer is quite an appealing one. Such a machine offers the freedom to run all-out cross-country rather than just chasing pre-determined dirt routes. If you were unaware, AlumiCraft builds such machines, and we would love to get behind the wheel of one.

AlumiCraft’s Class 1 Spec buggy is a certifiable roost-making machine.

Who Is AlumiCraft?

The year is 1996, and AlumiCraft is a relatively new contender in the world of motorsports. Initially, a brand focused on manufacturing off-road parts and components, AlumiCraft quickly became a well-known and sought-after option for enthusiasts and racers looking for top-quality products and services. The company created such an outstanding reputation that it began building its own complete off-road race cars. Today, AlumiCraft is no stranger to the competitive off-road world of racing. With 25 years of experience and 75 titles under its belt, you best know that AlumiCraft and its drivers mean business.

On any given weekend and any off-road race, you’re likely to find a number of AlumiCraft-built cars and trucks competing.

The All-Star Lineup

AlumiCraft now offers five race models and two prerunner/recreation models. Under the racing category, AlumiCraft offers two Class 1 buggies, one rear-wheel drive, and one sending power to all four wheels. These two cars allow the customer to designate an engine, with the LS3 being a popular powerplant of choice. Additionally, we have the Class 10 buggy, boasting a smaller 2.3L GM engine. Finally, the true excitement is displayed with the company’s Class 1 Spec buggy, leaving the AlumiCraft factory with a 6.2L LS376 producing a more than modest 525 horsepower.

Then there are Alumicraft’s new truck offerings, which come in either the Unlimited class package, where anything goes, or in a Spec class version, where the powerplant is the same 6.2L LS376 found in the Class 1 Spec buggy. What makes these vehicles unique is their compatibility with consistent upgrades and improvements and the initial build setup created specifically for the racer’s needs. Both the new truck and the Class 1 buggy (featuring an LS3) are featured in Forza Horizon 5’s new Rally Adventure Expansion, too, so you can enjoy the wild LS-powered machines from the comfort of your living room.

If trucks are your thing, AlumiCraft offers both an Unlimited and Spec class race truck package.

Loads of horsepower is always a good thing in our view, but the fun part of an off-road buggy or truck is the massive amount of suspension travel that soaks up whoops, ruts, and bumps like child’s play. The AlumiCraft race trucks feature 24 inches of travel in the front and a whopping 30 inches of travel in the rear. The Class 1 buggies have slightly less travel, with 22 inches in the front and 23 inches in the rear, respectively. Running off-road at speeds you usually enjoy on a highway without upsetting the vehicle or having it beat you to death in the seat will make you smile and giggle like a child with a new toy.

AlumiCraft

The Sportsman 4 is the top-of-the-line offering from AlumiCraft for those wanting a luxury prerunner or recreation buggy.

Obviously, only some people that want to enjoy playing in the dirt want to race. For those wishing to have fun prerunning or playing in the sand dunes, AlumiCraft offers two Sportsman models of buggies. The Sportsman 2 is a two-seat long travel buggy with a rear-engine configuration. Many powerplant options are available as long as they are under 1,500 horsepower. If you want to bring along friends or family for the adventure, there’s the Sportsman 4. It’s a four-seat buggy boasting up to 1,500 horsepower and 21.5 inches of suspension travel in the front and rear. With the Sportsman 4, you could be doing high-speed wheelies across the Glamis dunes one weekend and cruising down the Baja Peninsula the next.

AlumiCraft

Big horsepower, big suspension travel, big competition, and big fun. AlumiCraft offers incredible machines for off-road racers and enthusiasts alike to enjoy and compete with. So next time you imagine what your LS-powered vehicle might be, don’t just think of Corvettes and Miatas. Instead, remember the incredible machines from AlumiCraft.
