It seems like yesterday when one of NASCAR’s legends died during the Daytona 500, but it was actually a decade ago. In honor of the ten-year anniversary of Dale Earnhardt’s passing the Stratosphere Casino in Las Vegas will turn off the lights in the tower for 10 minutes at 9 p.m. tonight. The Las Vegas Sun reported this tribute on their site along with information on the limited edition Dale Earnhardt Hall of Fame Camaro and memorabilia on display at the casino.
The limited edition Dale Earnhardt Hall of Fame Camaro is guaranteed to attract spectators. This 2010 2SS Camaro is one of only ten produced in 2010. The unique paint scheme is composed of a two-tone paint job in the traditional Earnhardt red and black, with a sliver-gray accent strip dividing the colors. According to ESPN.com the Hall of Fame holographic emblem is proudly displayed on the wheels, the hood and is used as side emblems. Even the floor mats and headrests are emblazoned with the Earnhardt brand.
While the tower is dark tonight, the Stratosphere’s marquee will pay homage to Earnhardt and his infamous No. 3. Along with tonight’s tribute the Stratosphere has a display of personal effects from Earnhardt racing career including a Winston Cup jacket and Gargoyle sunglasses.
