The GMC Jimmy has enjoyed a large enthusiast following from its inception in 1970 that continues today. Even though the Jimmy officially ceased production in 1991 when the Yukon replaced it, it has continued with many well-built restorations, restomods, and customs that have done a fantastic job of keeping the Jimmy alive. Doing their part, Flat Out Auto of Jonesboro, Arkansas, will be debuting their 2022 GMC Jimmy in the Battle Of The Builders competition at the upcoming SEMA show in Las Vegas this November 1-4, 2022.
Flat Out Auto is known for building some amazing creations, and this 2022 GMC Jimmy continues that trend. The build is well thought out and executed to a level that appears as though it could have rolled out of a General Motors factory.
From Rendering To Real Life
Many enthusiasts have wondered what a modern-day Jimmy would look like. Wonder no more, as Flat Out Auto has brought their rendition to real life. Starting with a new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4, the very talented team at Flat Out Auto shortened the single cab long bed truck from the factory eight-foot bed to a shorter-than-short five-foot, eight-inch bed. Keeping true to the original Jimmy, the bed and cab have been seamlessly mated together to create an actual unibody vehicle. A removable hard top allows for open-air cruising or off-roading on sunny days.
It doesn't matter if the removable hard top is on or off, Flat Out Auto nailed the look and proportions of their Jimmy to properly pay homage to the original.
Bringing A Classic Into The 21st Century
Inside, this Jimmy features all the current technology and comfort you would have in the new GMC Sierra AT4. Leather seats, an in-dash screen with navigation, and a power tailgate are just a few of the modern-day luxuries you will find on this Jimmy. A matching leather power-folding rear bench seat has been added by Flat Out Auto as well.
Based on the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4, you get all of the modern looks and creature comforts of the new truck including power-folding rear seats.
With the hard top on, this Jimmy has all the right proportions and looks to make it worthy of its nameplate. Flat Out Auto will have their Jimmy on display in their booth (#24675) at the SEMA show all week during November 1-4, 2022. Due to the positive response to this build, Flat Out Auto will be building 20 of these Jimmy recreations in 2023. Each unit will be individually tailored to the customer regarding colors and options.
