Cadillac’s CTS-V models are incredibly fast, so a trip to Sebring Raceway in Florida seems like the ultimate place to put these beasts to the test. SPEED TV decided to turn their test driver and Trans Am champ, Tommy Kendall along with Johnny O’Connell, the champion factory Cadillac driver, loose at Sebring with the 500+ horsepower CST-V models for SPEED’s new show Test Drive. Test Drive debuted on Saturday April 2nd at 10:30pm ET on the SPEED network.
All three models of the CTS-V feature a 556 horsepower supercharged engine cranking out 551 ft-lb of torque that provides enough power to propel the Cadillac to a top speed of 185 MPH. According to the preview for the show, both the coupe and sedan take a mere 3.9 seconds from 0 to 60 MPH. Kendall mentions that Cadillac elected to use a set of very large Brembo brakes on the CTS-V during his driving session at Sebring. Additionally Kendall complimented Cadillac on the optional Recaro seats, stating they (Cadillac) got it right. Later Kendall meets up with Aaron Robison of Car and Driver to test the CST-V wagon on the way to launch of the space shuttle Discovery. During the road trip the guys discuss the perks of the 556 horsepower wagon and draw comparisons between the space race and the modern performance race that is dominating the auto industry presently.
