Hot rodding has entered a new era of high-dollar rides, with shops and customers competing to outdo one another with the most over-the-top cars ever created. Traditional hot rodding has been turned on its head, and no idea is too outlandish or ridiculous to try. Obviously execution matters, and when a great idea meets a great builder, the possibilities are endless.
This next eBay Find of the Day is sure to polarize some of you who prefer more pure, traditional hot rod looks. But there is no denying that this 1927 Model T is a larger-than-life creation that absolutely attracts attention wherever it goes.
Where do we start with this ride? The rocket-shaped exhaust headers? The fiberglass body laid on a real Model T frame and overlaid with faux carbon fiber? The split-top roof that would be absolutely worthless in a rainstorm? It’s an impossible task to try and take in all of what this car offers, but we’ll give it the old college try.
The orange and black paintjob was certainly done right, and under the hood is the tried-and-true Chevy 350/Turbo 350 engine/transmission combo. A Ford rear end out back, and custom forged 20-inch wheels ensure there will be no duplicates like this bad boy on the road–anywhere. The sleek futuristic look meshes well with the classic hot rod flair of this ride, but it may not be to everyone’s liking or custom tastes.
For what it’s worth, we always appreciate when a builder goes outside of the status quo to try and do something different. Whether he succeeded or not, give us your opinion in the comments section below.
