The National Corvette Museum,

For those who are unaware, the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky offers a wonderful service for those purchasing new Corvettes from Chevrolet, commonly referred to as “Museum Delivery,” or Option Code R8C. It is available through any Corvette dealer at a cost of $990 and has to be specified at the time the order is finalized for the car, utilizing the unique shipping code of 184590.

The 10,000th Corvette the NCM has happily delivered.

According to the NCM’s website, “They will contact the customer and offer a reasonable time frame in which the customer can choose a date for delivery. The first available date for delivery is approximately two weeks from the offline date of the car. Once the offline date is confirmed a representative from the NCM Delivery Department will contact the customer to schedule their delivery date.”

Although none of us here at Corvette Online have been fortunate enough to partake in the NCM Delivery, we hear that it really makes for a memorable experience and should not be missed if you’re ordering a Corvette in the future.

A consistent or increasing stream of purchasing and/or participation can really show you just how successful a business is at satisfying its customers and their needs. We have heard nothing but positivity about the NCM and the whole museum delivery program. Appropriately, on Friday March 6, 2015, the 10,000th Corvette rolled into the museum to meet its new owners.

Shane Webb, Museum Delivery Manager said, “We have delivered over 1,700 seventh generation Corvettes in the past 17 months alone, so not only is the latest model Corvette growing in popularity, but our delivery program is as well. The Museum ranked second in number of Corvettes delivered in 2014.”

The proud new C7 owner and number 10,000 was Dave Effler of Aurora, Colorado. Oddly enough, this wasn’t just your standard Corvette order, Effler won a “Build Your Own” raffle in which he was able to add the museum delivery option, in addition to others.

Effler explained, “Several years ago I came through the Museum with a friend and learned about the raffles, and dreamed of someday driving out of here in my own Corvette. The night before this raffle came up I saw that there were still tickets available so right before I went to bed I hit purchase.” Dave missed the original call informing him that he had won, but as he checked his messages, he couldn’t believe his ears.

He immediately called his wife Susan to tell her the news and she was ecstatic. Susan also commented, “We’ve always said that a Corvette would be our last big vehicle purchase for retirement, weekend trips and driving around the mountains in. We just kept saying, one of these days we’re going to get a Corvette. Today is the day!”

As we previously mentioned, the raffle that the Efflers won enabled them to truly order the car of their dreams. The foundation of their order was a 2015 Corvette Z51 Coupe in Shark Gray. Susan explained that, “It’s been pretty exciting, this process of creating and putting together all of the options that he wanted. It’s almost been like the delivery of a baby. We’ve been waiting months for this. The anticipation and excitement… it’s like he is 16 again.”

To commemorate the special day, Effler was presented with a slate build sheet, a window sticker for his car, and a framed photo of the experience. A special brick will also be set in the walkway outside the Museum’s delivery area, engraved with his name, the date, and the delivery number. Finally, Effler wanted to say that, “Being the 10,000th delivery is just icing on the cake, the whole experience with the staff, and this extra attention, has just been great.”

It was a real pleasure getting to hear about the Effler’s experience with the whole thing, proving that lightening really can strike twice in the same spot. Corvette Online would like to take a minute to wish the Effler’s years of happiness and love with their new addition, and to congratulate the NCM on an amazing achievement.
