Put professional race car driver Tony Stewart behind the wheel of any given vehicle, and you don’t know what could happen, but that’s exactly what the “Choose Tony’s Ride” competition was all about this year. Instead of putting Stewart in a car like the McLaren Formula 1 car (which he piloted last year for the competition) Mobil 1 opened up the vehicle choices to their fans and came up with some amazing and some…well, not so great vehicles to choose from this year. They included a M36 Army tank, Chevy Astro Van, Bondurant Corvette Grand Sport and the Mobil 1 Formula Drift Camaro. Check out the final voting results in the video above.

As we told you last month, in the second round of voting, the tank and Formula Drift Camaro prevailed leaving the final choice up to Mobil 1 Facebook fans. With two vehicles at complete opposite ends of the spectrum, the Camaro won the majority vote and was greeted willingly by Stewart at Charlotte Motor Speedway a few days ago.

After a tutorial by Formula Drift driver Tyler McQuarrie, Stewart was off to the track to try his hand at drifting the famous speedway. Of course, things didn’t go as smoothly as his normal driving with spin outs and over corrections dominating the day. When all was said and done, Stewart had the hang of drifting the Camaro but we don’t think he’ll be quitting his day job anytime soon.

With the Camaro taking the majority of the votes, that left the World War II era Army tank, which Stewart just couldn’t take his eyes off of. So, he also took to the  infield for a bit of time behind the wheel of the 64,000 pound beast as well. Not a typical day on the job, but Stewart didn’t seem to have any complaints.
