Top Five LS Swapped Cars Of Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2013

Many of us fantasize about visiting Barrettt-Jackson – partly to check that box off our bucket list, but mostly to see if there’s anything there we could actually afford. More often than not it’s usually just beautiful, rare, and classic cars that roll across the block that are bid on by high-roller collectors. Be it as it may, it’s still fun to watch all of the mouth-watering vintage iron sparkle underneath the fluorescent lights while they prepare to move on tho their new owners.

We have gathered a collection of five of our favorite musclecars that have been lucky enough to have received a 21st century heart transplant in the form of an LS series engine. If you’re interested in reading more about them, we hyperlinked each one for you.

’63 Corvette “ZR1”

If you couldn’t tell by the title that this vintage Vette has a secret lying underneath it’s fiberglass hood, then we’re about to spoil the surprise for you. There’s 376ci. of supercharged LS9 power under there. Honestly, the window in the hood and the personalized license plate ” 63 ZR1″ are the ultimate giveaways.

Every inch of this car is absolutely flawless!

This whole car has been rebuilt from the ground up using the best parts obtainable – like a Dana 44 rear end, a Painless wiring system, Brembo brake rotors with ZR1 calipers, Air Ride Technologies suspension, a Flaming River tilt steering column, a custom exhaust, Vintage Air, and too many other awesome features to list.

Our favorite parts of the car is the polished T-56 6-speed transmission, the chrome ZR1 wheels, and the striking blue paint job – all borrowed from our favorite C6. This one won’t go cheap, and we’re already envious of it’s future owner.

’69 Camaro

While some people might not be crazy about the idea of swapping an LS engine into a real ’63 split-window, we’re sort of curious how they will respond to the fact that this ’69 Camaro, a legit Super Sport 350 example, has undergone the same kind of surgery.

Packing an “LS3/L99” with ported LS3 heads and an F1 camshaft upgrade under the cowl induction hood, this Camaro is simply sexy. The original 4-speed has been swapped out for a T-56, and the whole car has been rebuilt from scratch. The ‘Maro sits on a Chassis Works subframe, control arms, and coil-over shocks. Boyd’s billet wheels and BFG KDW tires are responsible for getting the F-body down the highway and around the bends.

The 12-bolt rearend out back has been narrowed and is filled with a 4.10 gear set with posi-traction. Some of the finer details include Recaro seats, a Vintage Air heat & air-conditioning system, Wilwood brake system,  and an Alpine stereo. There are many other modifications done to this car that the list just goes on and on, and we don’t see it going for cheap.

’66 Chevelle

Like the ’69 Camaro featured above, this ’66 Chevelle is a real-deal SS (code 138). Carrying on with the pro-touring trend, it has received an enormous amount of attention with an LS1/4-speed automatic (probably 4L60E) swap, a complete suspension overhaul, and 18/20-inch Intro wheels with sticky Nitto tires.

The LS1 breathes better thanks to a Flowmaster exhaust, and if you ever get bored listening to your engine (doubtful), you can rely on your Pioneer stereo system and built-in MP3 player. The rest of the cockpit gives the driver plenty of modern-day conveniences like tilt & power steering, air conditioning and plenty of dress up items like stainless steel trim and billet door handles.

According to the Barrett-Jackson ad, this Chevelle has only seen 300 miles since it was completed  – essentially making it a brand new car. It’s from Southern California, so it’s guaranteed to be totally clean underneath too.

’72 Nova

We dig this body style of the Nova big time. Dropping an 6-liter LSX under a fiberglass hood and backing it with a T-56 6-speed transmission makes it just that much better. This ’72 has been given the pro-touring treatment like all of the other cars on this page, and features hardware like an FIA ProCharger, a complete aftermarket suspension kit, 4-wheel disc brakes, 3-1/2-inch custom exhaust system, and many other performance parts.

Inside and out, this Nova has had a complete makeover. Everything that has to do with performance has been modified in some way, or completely replaced. Many of the parts aren’t specified in the ad, but given the high-quality of cars that have gone through the auction at B-J, we’re confident that this car was built right.

According to the ad, it produces 850hp to the rear tires, and is 100% completely reliable and streetable. It’s been featured in a few different magazines, and has even been on the Hot Rod Power Tour. There’s no reserve on this Nova, so whoever the highest bidder will be, they’ll have a nice little X-body in their hands.

’56 Shoebox

If you’ve ever wanted to own a Tri-Five with LS power, you could have a perfect chance this January in Scottsdale. This red and black two-door post sedan has plenty of custom touches like a billet grille, C5 Z06-style wheels, 4-way adjustable shocks, and a touch screen DVD system. Our favorite part, of course, is the 5.7L LS1 and 4L60E combo that makes us reminiscent of a more simpler time before VVT and cylinder deactivation.

The ’56 rides on a California frame modified with C4 front and rear suspension systems. There are plenty of other modern day touches like power steering, disc brakes, windows, locks, and even a power antenna. According to the ad description there’s too much other modifications to list, but it does come with a Fender Stratocaster guitar. No reserve!
