Even when you do your best to take care and love your Corvette, the universe has a way of stepping in and putting a stop to your fun. Such is the case here, with this yellow C6 utterly wrecked and awaiting its fate at an upcoming car auction in Sacramento.
Insurance Auto Auctions (IAA), the organization that is currently holding onto the car, makes no bones about redeeming qualities about the C6, if there are any to be found. The sidebars on the listing (no. 13400956) layout all the sad aspects of the vehicle, from its salvage title to its severe lack of a tape deck.
Judging by what we can see from the pictures and sparse information, we’re left on our own to analyze what happened. Ladies and gentlemen, strap on your analysis hats–we’re going in.
Obviously, the brunt of the carnage is right there in the front. The driver apparently struck a sitting object, with such force that it caused the nasty cavitation that juts in directly to the center of the front clip. This snapped everything from the fiberglass panels to the accessory drive, and shoved the engine and subframe backwards.
Inside, things are just as bleak. The driver’s airbag hangs limply from the steering column, but fortunately the passenger’s airbag did not deploy; whoever was driving the C6 was alone when it happened.
State Farm Insurance handled the matter of transferring the vehicle over to IAA, and estimated its pre-collision value to be $36,673. In its current state, this yellow sports car is obviously beyond repair, but would make for a so-so donor vehicle with its intact rear wheels, deck lid, and other components.
What would you do with this poor old Vette? Would you use it for parts, or put it out of its misery in a metal compactor? Let us know in the comments below.
