There’s an embarrassment of riches out there for 5th gen Camaro owners looking to increase performance – more horespower, better grip, and a host of other upgrades are plentiful, to the point where deciding on what you want can almost become impossible. Vector Motorsports in Clinton Township, Michigan, helped one particular “Rich” – Rich Rohn to be exact – to avoid the embarrassment of a half-baked build on his drop-top 2012 Camaro SS with the balanced package of performance upgrades shown here.
Starting with the engine bay, the stock powerplant received a little boost in the form of an SLP supercharger kit. Built around the Eaton TVS 2300 rotor pack (the same high-efficiency twin-rotor setup used in the Corvette ZR1’s LS9 supercharger), the SLP blower is custom-designed for LS3/L99 applications and features air-to-water intercooling and OEM-level quality.
Other upgrades include FAST 65 pound-per-hour fuel injectors, Kooks 1 7/8-inch long tube headers with a catted x-pipe, a CORSA cat-back exhaust system, a throttle body ported by Vector, and of course a custom tune.
When all was said and done, the Camaro put 434 horsepower to the rear wheels, and 439 pound-feet of torque. To help harness the new power and keep the Camaro planted in the corners, VMS added a set of one-inch drop springs from BMR, and put on a SLP line lock to make burnouts a breeze. All together, the package adds up to a balanced, streetable boosted Camaro that anybody would be proud to own.
