Yes, its true– the brand new 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE will be going home to the very first lucky owner this Friday, April 7.
Chevrolet surprisingly announced this badass car at this year’s Daytona 500, showcasing their dedication to performance enthusiasts with “the most track-capable Camaro ever.” You can read all about it in our article here. Under the hood, the legendary LT4 V8 remains untouched from its predecessor, but the upgraded aerodynamics, wheels, and tires, along with adjustable suspension and weight reduction bring the starting MSRP to roughly $70,000.
This specific one, lot number 3002, will cross the auction block at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach event around 5:30 p.m. local time and will more than likely sell for quite the sum of cash. And, as usual with Chevy, all of that money will be going directly to the United Way non-profit organization.
Most “first” or “last” production cars that go up for sale at Barrett-Jackson are known to go for as little as twice their MSRP all the way up to that of the very first Acura NSX, which sold for $1.2 million at an event just last year. Our bet is that Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, will swoop in and pick up this cherry ride. He is well known for picking of the very first examples of just about everything–but he’s a sucker for anything GM.
Having just debuted a little over a month ago, this is quite soon for this brand spankin’ new car to be available to the public. So, for those who have little to no patience, now is the time to throw in a bid before the first ones roll into dealers across the United States.
