As the great Tom Petty once said, “If you never slow down, you never grow old.” Willard Kinzer is living proof that those words are undeniably true. Kinzer is the 83 year-old gentleman behind the wheel of the 4th Gen you see in this epic burnout video we found on YouTube. Kinzner mashes the gas, and refuses to let off the LSX screaming under the hood, erupting the rear tires into giant clouds of red smoke.
We were privileged enough to see Kinzer’s burnout prowess in person at the LSX Shootout earlier this month. At the Shootout Kinzer also laid waste to a pair of red-smoke-producing Kuhmo ECSTA SPT KU31 tires in his Ford Lightning, and just like you see in this video, Mr. Kinzer didn’t stop until there was nothing left. The NMRA/NMCA officials running the burnout contest limit each participant to 30 seconds, and to enforce that rule the caution tape you see in the video is tied to Kinzer’s wrist, and they tug on it to tell him when its time to stop… but he never listens.
Kinzer is not only a force to be reckoned with in the burnout competitions, but he is also a very accomplished drag racer and record holder in Super Street 10.5W. At the NMCA World Street Finals that were held in conjunction with the LSX Shootout, Kinzer ran a record time of 6.592 at 239.91 miles per hour in his orange Fox-Body Mustang.
We all have a few lessons to learn from Mr. Kinzer; keep doing what you love, and never let off the gas… even when “the man” tells you too.
