We love the fact that right now, you can walk into just about any Chevy dealership in America and order a 580 horsepower Camaro ZL1. That kind of power has never been available in a factory Camaro before, and for good reason. Few are the drivers who can tame a beast was powerful and unwieldy as the Camaro ZL1, and those who fail end up with crumpled car and shattered dreams.
What happened in this next video to cause the destruction of this all-but-new Camaro ZL1, we don’t exactly know. But we think it is a good indicator that perhaps automakers should require supercar buyers to take a mandatory training class when buying such a powerful vehicle.
The brief description of the video claims that this Camaro ZL1 was found on a dealership lot, with perhaps as little as 1,200 miles on the odometer. The comments section is a lot of back-and-forth about what caused the accident, but we won’t be dragged into the fray. All that is for sure is that this Camaro ZL1 wound up in a ditch.
Regardless of what caused this accident, there is little doubt that many of these American supercars, the Camaro ZL1 included, are more powerful vehicles than many people are capable of handling. Sticking an inexperienced driver behind the wheel of a car with almost 600 horsepower is a sure recipe for disaster, and in this case the Camaro ZL1 paid the ultimate price.
We love us some powerful American cars…but maybe it is time to include a day at the track for all Camaro ZL1 owners. What say you?
