It seems that Mother Nature has no respect for the 5th generation Camaros based upon her numerous attempts to dimple the bodies of these cars with hail. A freak summer storm in Westchester County, New York, left a Camaro5 forum member watching helplessly as his black 5th gen was savagely attacked from above. Imagine the horror of watching your beloved Chevy being cruelly shelled by what appear to golf-ball sized chunks of ice and not being able to do anything to help. Sure, the other car in the driveway sustained damage – it just hurts a little more when the victim isn’t a FWD import family car.

By the time the car owner hit the record button, the hailstorm was already in full swing. Although the video is only a minute long the actual duration of the storm is unknown. In the end, the Camaro5 forum member estimated that his car sustained over 100 quarter-sized dents spread across the trunk, rear quarter panels, roof, hood and front fenders. He didn’t yet have an official estimate from a qualified body shop, but the Camaro is certain to require a substantial amount from the insurance company. The owner is trying to turn the negative situation into a positive one by thinking about future mods. He is already contemplating the addition of a carbon fiber trunk lid, since that panel will have to be replaced.
