It’s already been well established that the C7’s LT engines can handle some serious power. However, Advanced Modern Performance (AMP) – the same group responsible for this 1000-horsepower, pump-gas Z06 from last October– is again taking things to new heights.
Equipping a customer’s C7 Z06 with their “Stage 5R” kit, AMP not only got the car up to a staggering 1,109 horsepower, but also blew away the C7 Z06’s previous world record quarter-mile time (again, on pump gas). The record was previously a brisk 9.814 at 141 miles an hour, set earlier this month by a ‘Vette with a pulley upgrade, cold-air intake, X-pipe, drag radials, and a tune.
The Stage 5R kit on AMP’s record-breaking machine, however, includes a ProCharger F1R supercharger and intercooling system, CNC’d LT4 heads, blower cam, and a methanol injection kit – a bit more drastic an upgrade compared to the previous record-holder, but still a fairly standard supercharged setup nonetheless.
According to AMP, the car (fresh off the dyno) was driven 4 hours to the strip, was given a pair of drag radials, and proceeded to run a world record-breaking 9.319 at 150 miles an hour on its first and only pass. The next two passes – per AMP’s Instagram posts – shredded the tires, so they decided to call it quits for the day. The owner then drove his 1,100-horsepower, 9-second street machine another 200 miles home.
If that’s not a testament to the sheer badass-factor of the Corvette, then we don’t know what is.
