There are a lot of different ways to sell cars. TV commercials, test drives, giant gorillas on the roof of the dealership, hot dogs and balloons for the kids, and pretty much everything else you can imagine has been tried, with varying degrees of success. However, there are some things that just would not have occurred to us, as seen in an older YouTube video. Although the video is from a couple years back, it still remains baffling and truly unique.
The video features CTS-V models in Shanghai during a celebration of its introduction into the Chinese market in 2009 at the Formula 1 Circuit. But it wasn’t just a normal celebration showcasing the car. In what was called Vday, stunt drivers drove the CTS-V in impressive demonstrations of performance and maneuverability. Not only were the cars driven in unison through obstacles, they also took on each other in head-on stopping demonstrations and slaloms.
As if those maneuvers weren’t enough, the stunt drivers challenged the Cadillacs to an even higher level of performance, driving the passenger side of the cars up a ramp so the cars balanced on the driver’s side wheels as they drove down the track. Even more impressive were the stunts involving balanced CTS-Vs and individuals hanging on to the undersides of the cars or even jumping from car to car as they drove. Who knew that the CTS-V could perform just as well on two wheels as it does on four?
The event also played host to the record-setting lap on the Formula 1 course in the CTS-V. Driven by John Heinricy, the record lap was completed in just 2 minutes and 32.8 seconds. In all, the Vday event looked to be incredible in many ways.
