Man, do we love sleepers. Sometimes it take a lot of courage to be seen driving behind the wheel of these vehicles, but when they lay waste to the competition, its completely worth it. Take for example this ’93 Buick Roadmaster put together by our friend Mark Burch, better known on the interwebs as AGearhead4Life.
While the car doesn’t look like much on the outside, resembling something a grandma would drive, if you pop the hood you’ll find a 5.3l LS1 V8 with LS2 cam in it and LS1 fuel rail covers. All truck accessories were used, and a lot of labor intensive work was done to make everything fit. For instance, with the water pump, instead of using spacers, they used a truck pulley system, and as the video states, this isn’t what they would suggest as it equated to a lot more work.
After custom fitting the hoses, brackets, and pulley systems there was still a lot of work to be done. The fans need to be hooked up and the coils need moving to make room for the heater hoses. After driving the car only 10 miles, the 4L60E transmission gave out, so that will be another project to complete with the car. The current owner doesn’t have the time, and we suspect the money, to finish the project, so the car is being put up on Craigslist.
Even with the car being unfinished, we can see the potential it has in becoming a great sleeper. The question is, would you be caught dead in it?
