Automotive customization has explored innumerable trends over the year, and while some trends (like spoilers and racing stripes) never seem to fade, others come and go with the tide. Often times these “new” trends are merely recycled or re-purposed old trends with a twist. On one hand it’s cool to see old ideas come back into style…but only if those ideas were cool in the first place.

We’ll leave it up to you to decide if fitting neon “underglow” to a car was ever a cool, hip trend. But we will say that the latest twist the underglow trend has taken as, at the very least, a little more intricate than installing some fluorescent lights under your car’s chassis. Yup, neons are back and this 5th-gen Camaro shows off how this old idea has been reworked for today.

Looking like a prop straight out of Tron, this heavily-modified 5th-gen Camaro is painted in a brilliant white and comes equipped with a custom wide-body kit unlike anything we’ve ever seen. But that isn’t why we’re writing about it. Rather, it is the neon blue lighting accents that run up and down the car that really caught our eye.

The neon lighting is used sparing for a pair of pinstripes running the length of the car. The SS symbol was also highlighted in blue, and even the wheels glow the same soft color. It’s something we have yet to see, and it certainly takes a lot of time and effort to perform this kind of work. While the video is too dark and grainy to make out the details, it doesn’t appear to be some hack job.

We don’t doubt, or even blame the haters on this one…but you’ve got to admit that this is a radical new look. Are you down with these new age neon kits?
