Right from the start, we knew it couldn’t be just a normal paint. It needed to be something spectacular, something special.
In this video from the Hot Wheels’ YouTube Channel, Chevrolet’s Design Director of Exteriors, Phil Zak, and Felix Holst, Vice President of Design at Hot Wheels-Mattel talk about the Hot Wheels Camaro Concept, and give us some more details on the car’s most defining feature; that magnificent green chrome paint that looks like it came straight off your favorite toy car from your childhood.
Zak explains, “Right from the start, we knew it couldn’t be just a normal paint. It needed to be something spectacular, something special. So we developed though our paint shops here a tint that we can put over the chrome paint to really give it a dynamic and vibrant look. We probably went through half a dozen fenders and 6 to 12 iterations to get what the actual perfect tint would be.”
There are tons of other subtle details that make this car a life size Hot Wheels car, so check out the video and our story from SEMA 2011 on the car for more info.
