The race to develop and market the first batch of performance parts for the upcoming 2014 Corvette Stingray is getting heated. Callaway Cars fired the first shot with the announcement of the supercharged 2014 Chevy Silverado and its GT3-spec Corvette C7 race car. But there are plenty of other companies readying their own Corvette competitors and parts, including Lingenfelter Engineering.

In fact, Lingenfelter has just returned fire in the friendly rivalry between these tuning giants with this video fresh from the Muncie Dragway, where their supercharged 2014 Chevy Silverado ran a 13.9 at 100.07 MPH.

While Lingenfelter’s efforts have resulted in one fast Chevy pickup, the main priority here is to develop supercharger and performance parts for the 2014 Corvette. The new 5.3 liter V8 engine in the Silverado shares many of the same technologies found in the Corvette’s 6.2 liter LT1 V8, including direct injection and variable valve timing. But since the Corvette doesn’t hit dealerships for another few months, Lingenfelter decided to get a head start.

Their efforts have not been for naught, as Lingenfelter claims to have already developed prototype camshafts. Additional work on cylinder head flow and port work is also underway, and Lingenfelter is gaining an increased understanding of the variable valve timing and direct injection technologies on GM’s new engines.

Managing to get a 5,300 pound Chevy pickup to go down the quarter-mile in less than 14 seconds? Lingenfelter certainly has our attention.
