If you’ve ever seen the LSX Willys Jeep, in person or on the internet, you’ll know that it’s unbelievably quick and is equipped with minimal safety equipment, until now. A scary ride, indeed.
A couple weeks back, the Small Town Weekend Drags took place in El Reno, Oklahoma, which actually looked pretty sketchy with a number of close calls and at least one big crash. The event involves a closed section of road for drag racing to happen, and a lot of spectators. Being that the event takes place on a street that is used by the public, there are no permanent safety barriers present, which could potentially make things a bit more interesting should an accident happen.
The LSX Willys Jeep was out at the event and was matched up with Street Outlaws’ BoostedGT. Both vehicles are extremely fast, and both vehicles have been featured in numerous 1320 Video YouTube videos. Although LSX Willys Jeep is putting out over 900 horsepower with help from a ProCharger and nitrous, will it be enough to overpower BoostedGT’s single-turbo small-block Ford? First of all, the start of the race had everybody confused. BoostedGT bumped in, but LSX Willys Jeep looks like he just rolled the start. After BoostedGT got about three car-lengths ahead, LSX Willys Jeep took off, but it wasn’t enough to reel BoostedGT in.
LSX Willys Jeep looks like no match for BoostedGT, but definitely has the cool factor over the boosted Mustang. We’re also glad to see that LSX Willys Jeep got a much-needed roll-cage, and even a wheelie-bar! There have definitely been some close calls in that little Jeep.
