When you hear “Vortech” you almost certainly think “centrifugal supercharger,” but that particular flavor of boost is more often associated with late model Mustangs than Camaros, which typically get the positive-displacement treatment. Vortech is nothing if not in tune with the needs and wants of their customers, and they’ve teamed up with Lysholm to offer a complete twin-screw supercharger kit for the 5th generation Camaro SS. The Lysholm Twin-Screw Supercharging System can transform an existing Camaro into a 600 crank-horsepower street driven beast.
Included with the kit are the high flow fuel rails, billet aluminum MAF housing with a properly relocated IAT sensor, a roto-molded CAI and the dual pass air-to-water charge cooler. It sounds like a lot components, but they are included with the kit thus making it a truly complete system. According to Vortech/Lysholm, everything is designed to install with ease and can produce over 500 horsepower to the tires.
A Camaro SS used for testing this product produced 520 horsepower and 493 ft lb of torque. There is no way to ignore the whine of a twin-screw supercharger, especially when it sounds like an air raid siren warning the competition to seek cover. Check out this video of a grip (as the kids say) of Camaros spinning the rollers, but make sure you’ve got your sound turned up first:
