Remember this badass Holden VK Commodore? The one with an LS3 equipped with a Magnuson Heartbeat blower that relentlessly bounced off redline in the name of hooning? Well, it’s back, and we got what we wished for – legit quarter-mile passes!
When we first saw this car, the video’s description said that the car would easily run a sub-10-second pass in the quarter-mile, but we wanted to see it run at the dragstrip with the Magnuson blower, of course. This VK Commodore is quick, though, and has undergone a few changes since we last saw it slaying tires. For starters, the owner went from a 3-speed transmission back to a 2-speed unit, which helped the car launch smoother off the line.
The next difference is the horsepower. Instead of 698 at the wheels, the Magnuson-blown LS3 now makes 902 horsepower at the rear tires. As we stated in the previous article about this car, the owner of this awesome VK Commodore is a tech at Magnuson’s Australian division. Oh, the perks of the job.
Watching this car leave the line is awesome, It squats, picks up the front left tire, and just moves down the strip. This car has run as quick as 9.60 seconds in the quarter, but since the 2-speed went back in, those times significantly changed. The car now runs the quarter consistently in 9.41 seconds at 153 MPH. Props to Fullboost for producing a video of this clean, sleeper VK Commodore running the quarter-mile to satisfy our curiosity! Check out their YouTube channel for more Australian awesomeness.
