Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire did a “One Take” review video on this 1990 Fox Body Mustang toward the beginning of his series, about two years ago. Just today, we stumbled across a newer video he did on the exact same car.
We clicked on it and watched only to find out, since that last video, the owner blew the motor. Now, its rocking an, yup you guessed it– LS.
The LS1 came straight out of a 2000 Camaro and is boasting LS6 heads and cam. Matt claims its much funner to drive with the LS (duh!) and is super “rev-happy.” It features a full Maximum Motorsports suspension setup, an Independent Rear Suspension swap, a T56 6-speed transmission with an MGW shifter, a T2R differential, and Cobra brakes– making for some pretty nice handling capabilities.
Because of the IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) swap, this vehicle seems to be comparable to Matt Farah’s personal Foxbody Mustang, so Matt plans to hit the track with the owner soon. If you know anything about Farah’s personal Fox body build, we highly doubt that.
Matt Farah was quite impressed that the owner did the build completely by himself. While the car isn’t a looker in any capacity, it’s what’s on the inside that counts and judging by the velocity at which Farah is hooning it around it seems to be a capable performer. The owner claims he started with a goal of building the car exclusively for fun and we think he accomplished that goal, as throwing an LS in pretty much makes any car fun.
