VIDEO: New Corvettes Burn To The Ground On Transporter

As if there hadn’t been enough reasons for customers to have to wait for their C8 Corvettes over the past couple of years, now a few more soon-to-be owners have been moved to the back of the line.

Many owners anxiously await the notification their Corvettes are making their way down the Bowling Green, Kentucky assembly line. Many have been waiting for over a year. Each transporter that hauls Corvettes out of the plant can carry up to 10 Corvette dreams to their expectant new owners. For this trip, those dreams were dashed somewhere in Tennessee, when it appears the tractor hauling the Corvettes had a severe malfunction and began to burn.

A member of the C8 Corvette Owners (And Friends) Facebook page posted a couple of videos shot while the truck (and several Corvettes) burned. We will warn you there is some language in the video, so little ears may not want to be present during viewing.

For the very same reason corporations do not like for several high executives to travel together since these Corvettes were literally stacked upon each other when the flames reached beyond the confines of the truck, the Corvettes were next in line to fuel the fire. Thankfully, the flames did not continue to all of the in-transport sports cars, and it appears that only four cars succumbed to the flames.

It appears the fire started at the tractor hauling the Corvettes, but it didn’t take long for the flames to leap over to the transporter’s valuable cargo.

The after-effects were shown on the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com with some clear photos of what remained after the flames were doused. Of course, we don’t know exactly what build many of the damaged cars left the plant because there isn’t enough left to distinguish.

We can only imagine how these owners must feel and wonder if there is a way GM could/would bump the builds of replacement C8s to help relieve the sting of being so close to owning YOUR Corvette and having it all turn to ash? We’d assume since the owners hadn’t taken ownership, this would be an internal situation since the owners’ insurance likely isn’t involved? Either way, we hope they get some way to finally enjoy their Corvettes soon!
