Since the release of the Z/28 Camaro, it has gotten nothing but good remarks and high praise from automotive publications around the globe, including ours. Unfortunately, when we tested the car at Gingerman Raceway, it was a little wet, but still a great time nonetheless.
Redline Motorsports is known to build some high horsepower cars and this Z/28 Camaro is no different. With a healthy LS7 producing 505 horsepower, sticky Pirelli Trofeo R tires, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, what more could this street-legal track slayer need? More power, of course!
American Racing headers, and an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger for a significant boost in power. As you can see, the supercharger system fits perfectly under the hood and no cutting had to be done for it to fit. Next up, dyno testing.
The crew at Redline Motorsports started by removing the parts off the engine that will be replaced. The upgrades include a new camshaft, new valve springs,With the baseline numbers of the LS7’s power around 444 horsepower and 450 pound-feet at the wheels, proving that it’s enough to propel the Camaro around a track as fast or faster than some Porsches, it’s only going to get better with a supercharger. After the install, a quick tune with EFI Live was all the car needed before it hit the dyno.
From the passes on the dyno, we could already tell the car was making more power due to the amazing sound of the LS7 at it’s 6800 RPM redline and the responsiveness of the throttle. The outcome of the package? 652 horsepower at the wheels and 628 pound-feet of torque. Very impressive for a car that already has it all!
